ICDGP Distinguished Member
Distinguished Membership is the highest grade of membership of the Institute of Cybersecurity and Data Governance Professionals (ICDGP). It recognizes individuals of exceptional professional standing who have made sustained and internationally or nationally significant contributions to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data governance, digital trust, privacy, academia, research, public policy, or industry.
Invitation Only
Membership cannot be applied for directly. Identified by Board or nomination.
≤ 1% Membership Cap
Total Distinguished Membership does not exceed 1% of ICDGP membership.
Max 5 Inducted / Year
Strict annual induction limit to preserve the exclusivity of the honor.
Designation D.ICDGP
Right to use post-nominal title, receive medal, certificate & lapel pin.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates should satisfy most of the following 9 criteria to qualify for consideration:
1. Invitation Only
- Membership cannot be applied for directly.
- Candidates are identified by the ICDGP Board, Distinguished Membership Committee, or through nomination by existing Distinguished Members or Fellows.
2. Professional Achievement
Demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in one or more of:
- Cybersecurity & Information Security
- Artificial Intelligence
- Data Governance & Data Privacy
- Digital Forensics & Risk Management
- Digital Transformation
- Technology Leadership
- Cyber Law or Policy
3. Professional Experience
Normally possession of:
- At least 10 years of professional experience
- OR
- An extraordinary record of achievement regardless of years of experience.
4. Global Recognition
National or international recognition evidenced by:
- National honours or government recognition
- International awards
- Executive positions (CEO, CIO, CISO, CTO, CDO)
- Distinguished military or government cyber service
- Global keynote speaking & int'l advisory boards
5. Significant Contributions
Demonstrated one or more of:
- Ground-breaking innovation & influential research
- Widely adopted frameworks & industry standards
- Major cybersecurity initiatives
- National digital transformation & AI governance
- Public sector reforms & capacity building
6. Leadership
Evidence of sustained leadership such as:
- CEO, Founder, or Board Chair
- Government Advisor or University Professor
- Director-General or Commissioner
- National Cybersecurity Coordinator
7. Ethical Standing
Must demonstrate uncompromised integrity:
- High ethical standards
- Professional integrity
- No disciplinary sanctions
- Commitment to responsible technology
8. Contribution to Society
Examples include:
- Public service & mentoring future professionals
- Community impact & STEM education
- Cyber awareness & digital inclusion initiatives
9. Peer Recognition
Supported by either:
- Three to five distinguished referees
- Independent testimonials
- Citation analysis & major publications
- International speaking engagements
Nomination & Selection Process
The formal 8-step evaluation pathway to Distinguished Membership:
Invitation
Invitation by the ICDGP Board or President.
Formal Nomination
Formal nomination by at least three Distinguished Members or Fellows.
Submission of Evidence
Comprehensive submission of achievement evidence & portfolio.
Independent Review
Independent review by the Distinguished Membership Committee.
Interview (Optional)
Formal or committee candidate evaluation interview if required.
Recommendation
Formal recommendation submitted to the Board of Directors.
Board Approval
Approval by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the Board of Directors.
Formal Induction
Formal induction ceremony at the Annual ICDGP Conference.

- Receive a Distinguished Membership Certificate
- Receive an official Distinguished Medal
- Wear a Distinguished Member lapel pin
- Serve as official ambassadors of ICDGP
